This article is about the life of San Mao, a Taiwanese writer.  The author's family, upbringing, place of education, interests, as well as personal life are discussed.  The article also emphasizes the work of San Mao.  Was written about her first collection of essays, Desert Stories.  The childhood memories of the writer, who mysteriously passed away at the age of 47, are also mentioned.
