THE ROLE OF CONCEPT CHILDHOOD IN THE WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS
Abstract
The peak of interest in understanding the image of the child in literature falls
on the 19th century. From the poetry of romantics, who considered childhood a special and
intrinsically valuable world, this theme by the middle of the century moves to prose,
childhood becomes the theme of being a personality in harmony with oneself and the world.
The image of childhood is a characteristic phenomenon in English literature. Let's make
some comparisons. Victorian society pays great attention to the problems of childhood:
reforms are taking place in the field of child upbringing and education, children's books
and magazines appear. A group of like-minded artists gathers around the painter T.Webster,
who specializes in children's themes.
